What's new in West Miami?

I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!

Famous for its rapid developments, cultural diversity, and Metropolitan conveniences despite its tiny size, West Miami has always been a "city of change," and locals have loved the charming neighborhood for it — and living in it!

That said, it isn't surprising that West Miami has, once again, set forth with a new batch of "coming soons" around the community — all with the intent of continuously improving the lifestyle of West Miami residents and those surrounding it!

Are we seeing new facilities and recreational spots on the horizon?

Read on to get the down-low on what's next for West Miami!

Here are 2 things new to watch for in West Miami.

"Wanted: Proposals" — West Miami Solicits Proposals For A New Multi-Purpose Recreational Facility!

Where: 1700 SW 62nd Ave, Miami, FL 33155

When: TBA

Yes, you read it right!

A new multi-purpose recreational is in the pipeline for West Miami's Recreation Center Park, and the city government is hunting for a licensed professional General Contractor for the job!

The City will receive sealed proposals no later than 3:00 p.m. on or before April 26, so until then, and approximately a few months after, we won't have the complete details about the new project.

The only thing we're sure of is this new development will be a significant addition to West Miami recreation!

A Long-Sought Trail Lurks In West Miami

Where: 400 feet North of NW 7th Street and SW 80th Street, between 69th and 70th Avenues

When: Fall 2026

Do you remember Ludlam Trail, a 5.6-mile multi-use, non-motorized recreational shared-use path promised decades ago?

Well, the recreational portion of this highly anticipated destination is moving forward, with the construction slated to start in Fall 2026!

The proposed project for Ludlam Trail, which began as a community-driven effort, supports the vision to provide an interconnected trail system offering transportation alternatives and reducing traffic congestion for a livable, sustainable County alongside safe, dedicated, direct pathways for walking, running, and cycling, green non-motorized modes of transportation, and connectivity and accessibility between schools, parks, transit stops, and residences, workplaces, and shopping.

And though a few of the trail's components pushed through in the past few years, including Bird Road's section of the trail, other significant structures like bridges, pedestrian bridge overpasses, and the rest of the proposed Ludlam Trail lagged for a few years due to some construction challenges.

But all that's in the past, and now, sources advise that the design process for Ludlam Trail is anticipated to start this Summer!

More updates as soon as we get them!
